Newcastle United 1–0 Wolverhampton Wanderers (Premier League)

Newcastle United secured their first win of the season with a narrow 1–0 victory over Wolves at St. James’ Park. The match was decided by a debut goal from Nick Woltemade, who justified his £69 million price tag with a powerful header in the 29th minute. Eddie Howe’s side dominated possession (56.7%) and created more chances, registering 16 shots to Wolves’ 8. Despite missing star striker Alexander Isak, Newcastle’s defensive organisation was exceptional, limiting Wolves to just three shots on target and maintaining a clean sheet. Bruno Guimarães and Sandro Tonali controlled the midfield, while Kieran Trippier provided width and leadership from the back. Wolves, still winless this season, struggled to break down Newcastle’s compact shape and lacked creativity in the final third. The result leaves Newcastle climbing out of the bottom half, while Wolves remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

Fulham 1–0 Leeds United (Premier League)

Fulham snatched a dramatic late win over Leeds United thanks to a 94th-minute own goal by Gabriel Gudmundsson. The match was largely uneventful until the introduction of debutant Kevin, whose energy and direct play revitalised Fulham’s attack. His curling effort led to a corner that deflected off Gudmundsson into the net, sealing Fulham’s first win of the season. Leeds had the better chances throughout, with Brandon Aaronson and Ofakor testing Bernd Leno, but couldn’t find the breakthrough. The midfield trio of Longstaff, Ampadu, and Stach stifled Fulham for most of the game. Marco Silva praised Kevin’s bravery and impact, while Daniel Farke expressed heartbreak over the result, calling it a cruel end to a strong away performance. Fulham climb out of the relegation zone, while Leeds continue their poor run in London.

Bristol City 3–0 Sheffield Wednesday (Championship)

Bristol City delivered a dominant performance at Ashton Gate, cruising to a 3–0 victory over a struggling Sheffield Wednesday side. The Robins opened the scoring in the 12th minute through Anis Mehmeti, who curled in a stunning effort from the edge of the box. Emil Riis Jakobsen doubled the lead just before halftime with a powerful header from a corner. The second half saw Bristol maintain control, and Scott Twine added a third with a low drive after a clever one-two with Mehmeti. Sheffield Wednesday offered little in attack and were second-best throughout, failing to register a shot on target. The win keeps Bristol City in the playoff places, while Wednesday remain winless and rooted near the bottom of the table.

Swansea City 2–2 Hull City (Championship)

Swansea City and Hull City played out a thrilling 2–2 draw at the Swansea.com Stadium in a match full of attacking intent and late drama. Swansea took the lead early through Liam Cullen, who latched onto a clever through ball from Jamie Paterson and finished coolly past the keeper. Hull responded with a well-worked equaliser from Regan Slater, who curled a shot into the top corner after a slick passing move. The second half saw Swansea regain the lead via a towering header from Jerry Yates, only for Hull to snatch a point in the 89th minute through a deflected strike from Ozan Tufan. Both teams had chances to win it in stoppage time, with Hull’s keeper making a crucial save from Matt Grimes. Swansea dominated possession but were undone by lapses in concentration, while Hull showed resilience and attacking flair. The result leaves Swansea mid-table, while Hull continue their unbeaten run away from home.

Swindon Town 3–1 Barrow (League Two)

Swindon Town continued their strong start to the League Two season with a hard-fought 2–1 win over Barrow at the County Ground. The hosts opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Tom Brewitt, who headed in from a corner after sustained pressure. Barrow equalised just before halftime with a well-placed shot from Robbie Gotts, capitalising on a defensive error. The second half saw Swindon push forward relentlessly, and their efforts were rewarded when Rushian Hepburn-Murphy scored the winner with a composed finish in the 76th minute. Barrow had chances to level late on, but Swindon’s defence held firm before finishing the job with a third strike. The win keeps Swindon in the top five, while Barrow’s struggles on the road continue.
